How to Combine Google Takeout ZIP Files Into One Folder
Request a large export from Google Takeout — years of Photos, your whole Gmail archive, Drive files — and Google won't hand you one download. It emails you a series of ZIP files, each one capped at a size limit. Unzip them one at a time and you'll end up with several separate "Takeout" folders instead of the single, organized export you expected. Why Takeout splits your export
Takeout limits each ZIP to a maximum size so downloads stay manageable. When your requested data — often dominated by Google Photos — exceeds that limit, Takeout packages it as multiple complete ZIP files (takeout-20260101T000000Z-001.zip, -002.zip, and so on) instead of one giant archive. Each file is a full, valid ZIP on its own; the split just means your data is spread across several of them.
The fix, in three steps
- Download every part Google emailed you into the same folder on your computer.
- Drag all the Takeout ZIPs into ZipCombiner and choose "Treat as full ZIP(s)" — the correct mode since Takeout exports are complete, independently extractable archives.
